Winter

As host to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, you can be sure that Lake Placid is a hub of winter athletics: snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating, and more—we’ve got it all! Be sure to check out the Olympic Jumping Complex, where athletes still practice today, or make the quick drive to Whiteface Mountain for more beginner-friendly slopes.

Spring

Capitalize on the area’s off-season rates and use the savings to treat yourself: indulge in a spa treatment, wine tasting, or tee time at a nearby golf course. Learn more about the local flora and fauna with a guided birding walk through the forest. Or, catch some late-season skiing at the world-class Whiteface Mountain.

Summer

With three mountain lakes surrounding the town of Lake Placid, it’s no surprise that we’re a prime destination for all things water: canoeing, boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing… if you can think of it, we’ve probably got it! With the Keene Valley network of trails close by, we’re a world-class hiking mecca, too, and summer is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the Adirondacks by horse, bike, or on foot.

Fall

One of our favorite fall activities in Lake Placid is taking a gondola ride—there are several to choose from—to get a bird’s-eye view of the vibrant mountainsides. If you’re itching to get into the backcountry, make the most of the season’s cooler days and log some miles on the trail, summiting one or two of the 46 High Peaks before the snow flies!
