Visit the Olympic Ski Jump Complex via a gondola ride with stellar views of the Adirondacks, then watch athletes train from the observation area. Craving more of the serenity of nature? Take a walk on the Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails on Lake Placid’s southwest shore.

In the fall, too, the area is a bustle of activity. Feeling creative? Head to nearby Saranac Lake to check out their monthly ArtWalk. Feeling ambitious? Sign up for the Lake Placid Classic half marathon. Or simply hang out around town, enjoying the fantastic food, local brews, and many unique shops in Lake Placid.

Naturally, colder months in the Olympic Village fully embrace winter sports. Head to Mirror Lake for some tobogganing, pond hockey, or the ice track; go on a snowshoeing adventure at High Falls Gorge; or ski on Mount Van Hoevenberg’s Olympic trails. After your adventures, be sure to stop by the Adirondack Trading Company and other unique Main Street stores to do some holiday shopping.

As the snow melts and the lakes fill with springtime runoff, discounted rates make this the perfect season to explore the area on bike, horse, or boat. If there’s still snow on the trails, sign up for the Jackrabbit Rally and cross-country ski for a good cause or take advantage of a warm spring day on one of the nearby golf courses. Finish your day with a spa treatment or good conversation around a campfire for the perfect springtime getaway.
